Anthropic merges Claude chat and Cowork interfaces: one window for all tasks

Anthropic recently announced it will unify Claude chat and Cowork(collaborative workspace) into a single, unified interface. Previously, many users found themselves switching between Claude The biggest confusion users face is not knowing which tab—Chat, Cowork, or Artifacts—is meant for a given task, making constant switching cumbersome. This consolidation aims to solve that problem once and for all.

One window, automatic routing

The unified interface packs Chat, Cowork, and Artifacts (Claude its interactive workspace) into a single window. The most fundamental change is:Claude It automatically determines the optimal path for your request, eliminating the need to manually switch tabs or windows. Anthropic’s intent is clear—to remove the burden of “which feature to use” from users and delegate routing decisions to the model, letting users focus solely on their tasks.

Additionally, the Claude Design(for website and prototype design), launched in April this year, can now be invoked directly from anywhere within Claude , further streamlining the flow from idea to finished product.

New: Presentation and Document Collaboration

This update also introduces two dedicated new features:

  • Presentations: Enables Claude to create, edit, and present slides—and export generated content as PDF or PowerPoint files.
  • Document Collaboration: Lets users co-author documents with Claude , adding content paragraph by paragraph, asking questions, commenting on completed sections, and generating shareable links—enabling continued editing on mobile devices.

Cross-platform experience has also been optimized: You can start generating a document with Claude on desktop, then check progress or continue editing anytime via the mobile app—ensuring uninterrupted workflows across devices.

Who can use it?

These new features will roll out over the next few weeks,First to Claude Pro and Max subscribers,Across web, desktop, and mobile; free and team plans will gain access later. Notably, this update follows an upgrade to Cowork’s memory layer—Claude It now better retains user context across multiple conversations, enabling more coherent cross-session collaboration.

Summary: Hand decision-making to the model

Anthropic’s direction is clear: rather than asking users “Which feature should I use?”, let the model decide “How should I handle this?” For power users, this is a tangible experience improvement—fewer decisions, more continuity. It also signals an industry shift: AI product competition is moving from “How many features?” to “How smooth is the experience?”
